Animations & Settings

The Dr X 2004/05 R1 X-treme Kit is designed with an onboard INTEL processor for ultimate control of all 3 states of each LED (Park, Brake & OFF).  This allows our programmers to develop highly visible & effective animations where both the flow and intent are easily understood.

Special FX Animations

Special FX animations or running light animations can be activated/deactivated at any time including ON-THE-FLY (while riding) via the FX Switch.  Each animation is distinct and offers various levels of 'shock & awe' to suit your mood - including signature animations such as Wag-Your-Tail, Lightning and the Stealth Blue Series!  All special effects are designed with a BRAKE compliment animation and L/R turn signal override for safety.

Turn Signal Animations

Turn signal animations are designed for maximum visibility as well as clarity to ensure that drivers behind you fully understand that you are signaling - with or without BRAKE application.  The key was to carefully analyze the optics of the OEM lens to minimize light scatter across the taillight.  The Dr X Kit R1 X-treme also includes ultra bright YELLOW LEDs for use where yellow indicators may be required (i.e. Europe).  Users may program from various turn signal animations - including signature animations such as Shimmer X-treme.  Null flash is also programmable for users who wish to temporarily or permanently disable the integrated turn signal feature without physically disconnecting the L/R input wires into the Dr X Kit!

Brake Animations

Unlike incandescent bulbs, LEDs turn on/off very quickly.  This is an added safety feature as the reaction time for the driver behind you is cut down.  However, this can also be very harsh on riders behind you over repeated brake cycles – usually the case when riding in packs.  VFX programmers have included ENHANCED braking animations to smoothen out the ON/OFF cycles without compromising reaction times.  In addition to the enhanced brake animations, programmers have also included various X-treme brake animations which activates a lightning (strobing) effect to further improve reaction times.  The OEM brake setting is also programmable.

BLUE LED Settings

Blue LEDs are provided as trick highlights for the R1 taillight and are simply to enhance the LOOK of your taillight – they differentiate your bike without having to activate any of the animations.  The BLUE LEDs are fully programmable to suit your style and include the ON-THE-FLY toggle option for quick activation/deactivation via the 3 BRAKE TAP.  Users may program for BLUE 1, BLUE 2 or BLUE 3 operation.  An override feature is also programmable to completely disable the BLUE LEDs.

Start-Up Animation

As with every new gadget, riders want to show off the exciting new capabilities of your taillight – so VFX programmers have included a trick 8-second animation routine when starting your bike >> an industry first!  Users can program the Start-Up Animation to be ON or OFF.

OEM Hazard

For R1 models equipped with an OEM HAZARD switch, the Dr X Kit will respond to this switch by automatically activating the HAZARD SOLID animation with brake override. This feature is incorporated to maintain safety even if rear signals have been removed.

Front Turn Signal Animations

By adding the Dr X Kit FX Relay and/or the Dr X Kit Flasher Relay, users may add various functions and animations to their front turn signals!  Refer to the Dr X Kit Relays section for more info.  Dr X Kit Relays sold separately.
