Q1 Are there any hidden fees or extra costs? A1 Apart from the initial DEPOSIT (fully reimbursed when HOTSWAP completed) and the RETURN SHIPPING to VFX there are no extra costs for successful participating in the program. Q2 What if my taillight does not meet your criteria? A2 If you feel that your taillight does not meet our Qualification Criteria for the HOTSWAP Program, you may always send in your taillight for modification or you may purchase the Dr X Kit PNP with a new OEM Taillight. Alternatively you may also purchase the DO-IT-YOURSELF kit. Q3 Why can’t I use a courier to return my taillight from the USA? (i.e. UPS, FEDEX) A3 In order to avoid surcharges related to additional brokerage fees and/or duties when shipping from the USA, VFX strongly recommends shipping with the US Postal Service (no fees). See Return Shipping Instruction for further details. Q4 When will my deposit be reimbursed? How will I know if my OEM taillight qualified? A4 OEM taillights are screened within 1-2 days of arrival at VFX. If passed, deposits are reimbursed immediately and customers are notified by email with a PDF receipt of the credit. Credit may take 24 to 72 hours to appear on your CC or PayPal account.
Q5 What if my OEM taillight does not pass your inspection? A5 If your taillight fails inspection, you will be contacted to initiate the return process. Alternatively, the customer is also given the option to have the failed taillight modified with the Dr X Kit. This scenario is ideal for those who have a fellow rider who is also looking to purchase a Dr X Kit >> a 10% discount is offered for these customers.
Q6 How long do I have before returning my OEM taillight? What happens if I am late? A6 Timely return of OEM taillights is critical in maintaining availability of product under the HOTSWAP Program. Customers have 3-4 weeks from initial shipment from VFX to return their OEM taillight. This allows for 1 week (or less) of transit to the customer, 1 week for installation, 1-2 weeks for return transit via US Postal Service. A 25% surcharge applies for late returns (25% of deposit). Taillights received after 6 weeks may be disqualified from the program - customers are not penalized for customs delays if applicable.
Q7 What if I decide to keep my OEM taillight? A7 If you decide to keep your taillight, your deposit will not be reimbursed ad there is no further obligation to the customer. There are no penalties or surcharges.
Q8 Why is this program not available outside CANADA and the US? A8 Due to varying shipping times and costs, the HOTSWAP Program is not offered internationally. In most cases it is simply cheaper to purchase the Dr X Kit PNP with a new OEM taillight.
