Q1 Does the Pivot Kit 2006 R6 only work on the 2006 R6 model?
A1 YES.  The Pivot Kit R6 has been designed specifically for the 2006+ R6 models.  VFX also offers the original Pivot Kit R6 for the 2003-05 R6 models (also works on the 2006 R6S model)  Installation on other models may be possible with customization.

VFX recommends the Pivot Kit Universal for models where a bike specific Pivot Kit is not available.

Q2 Will the PIVOT KIT 2006 R6 cover up all the OEM undertail holes? Even the large socket that the original fender fit into?
A2 YES.  The Pivot Kit 2006 R6 bolts on to the OEM undertail using the same OEM hardware used to hold the stock fender.  The large socket is also completely filled in with the black Delrin spacer (very lightweight) to which the actual kit is mounted.  

Q3 Do i need to purchase the optional replacement Hardware?
A3 The replacement hardware is required only if you have lost or misplaced the original 4 bolts and washers that held the stock fender in place.

Q4 Will my plate work with the kit?
A4 See product specifications to verify hole spacing for plate compatibility. The Pivot Kits are designed to fit both WIDE and NARROW format plates. The PIVOT KIT series has been sold worldwide and to date all plates have been compatible (i.e. all US & Canada States/provinces, Europe, Australia, Japan, South Africa, etc..)

Q5 How do the plate lights connect?  How bright are they? Are the lights animated?
A5 The MicroStrip plate lights offered with the Pivot Kit 2006 R6 are connectorized and are fully PLUG 'n PLAY.  The MicroStrip uses 3 ultra bright chip LEDs for plate illumination equivalent in brightness to the stock plate light.  The MicroStrip is offered in an array of colors.

Based on feedback from users of the previous generation Pivot Kit R6 the LED plate lights are not animated and simply turn on and off with ignition power.

Q6 Is it legal?
A6 With a wide range of regulations, this is left up to the customer to determine with your local authorities. In essence, this kit has been designed for maximum mounting flexibility with illumination and a professional look >> should not pose a problem.

Q7 What is the difference between the 'cover bracket', 'plate bracket' & 'plate bracket with turn signal mounts'?
A7 The modular design of the Pivot Kit R6 allows customers to configure the kit for their specific set-up!

The cover bracket simply covers up the stock socket and holes left behind when removing the fender.  Ideal for those who have removed the stock fender and relocated the plate elsewhere.

The Pivot Kit R6 Plate Bracket allows for mounting of the plate only without mounting signals.  Ideal for those who have relocated the signals into the taillight or elsewhere.

The Pivot Kit R6 Plate Bracket with turn signal mounts provide customer with the choice of mounting only the plate or both plate and short stalk signals.  Both brackets types are provided.

Q8 How is the preload adjusted for On-THE-FLY control? Will the plate move at high speeds? Can i fix the plate at one position?
A8 Users may adjust the plate preload on the PIVOT BOLTS using the hex key provided.  The preload adjustment allows for manual movement of the plate while remaining stationary at high speeds.  The preload on the PIVOT BOLTS can also be tightened completely to fix the plate at the desired position (no movement possible at all). 

Q9 Is a motorized version available?
A9 Due to liability issues, the PIVOT KIT series is not available with a motor/servo. However, our designers have included mounting points to enable customers to fit their own cable/servo kits.

Q10 Why do I need this kit?
A10 Most enthusiasts place great emphasis on cleaning up the rear tail with trick LED taillight Kits. But when it comes to mounting the plate they simply screw on using a cheap ‘home-made’ bracket where all the undertail holes may not be covered. The pivot kit provides a professional appearance with just the right aftermarket flare…the ultimate fender eliminator kit.
