Animations & Settings

The Dr X 2007 R1 X-treme Kit is designed with an onboard micro-processor for ultimate control of all 83 LEDs.  Unlike any any other kit on the market, the Dr X 2007 R1 X-treme Kit offers unprecedented animation capability while increasing taillight visibility and safety.

New for the Dr X 2007 R1 X-treme Kit are RPM animations.  They add an entirely new dimension to your bike (and your riding).  Animations actually vary with engine RPM - the ultimate sound and light effects!! 

The factory default settings allow for immediate use of the kit as a signal integrated taillight.  Users may customize the kit using the built in programming options.

Start-Up Animation

As with every new gadget, riders want to show off the exciting new capabilities of your taillight – so VFX programmers have included a trick 7-second animation routine when starting your bike >> an industry first!  Users can program the Start-Up Animation to be ON or OFF.  Factory default is ON.

Highlight LEDs Mode/Intensity Setting

Highlight LEDs are provided as a trick enhancement for the R1 taillight. They instantly differentiate your bike without having to activate any of the animations. Highlight LEDs are offered in BLUE or WHITE.  There are 10 highlight LED settings to suit any user including HL OFF.  Factory default is HL2 High Intensity.

Highlight LEDs On-the-Fly Toggle

For ON-THE-FLY control of the Highlight LEDs, VFX programmers have included the highlight LED toggle via our signature 3- BRAKE TAP.  Simply PRESS the BRAKE LEVER 3 TIMES within 2 seconds and the LEDs will toggle to the opposite state (ON or OFF).  The toggled setting will remain in memory even if the bike is powered off (ie. if the highlight LEDs are toggled OFF, then the next time you power up the highlight LEDs will remain OFF until they are toggled back on via the 3-BRAKE TAP)

The 3-BRAKE TAP can be performed at any time as long as the taillight is in running light mode.  For users who do wish to toggle the highlight LEDs via 3- brake tap, simply program the highlight LEDs to OFF mode in the Highlight LEDs Mode/Intensity Setting.

Turn Signal Color

Users of the Dr X R1 X-treme have the choice of signaling with YELLOW or RED LEDs. The programmed signal animation will remain the same, only the signal color will change.  Factory default is YELLOW.

Turn Signal Animations

In addition to the unbelievable array of signal animations, VFX programmers have truly taken the Dr X R1 X- treme to new heights with Signal Speed Calibration - an industry first!  See RIP manual for details.

Signal animations range from the standard ON/ OFF type to high-intensity strobing types to smoother fading type animations.  For improved visibility, all signal animations flash full on/full off for greater contrast.  Users are encouraged to check out all animations.

Brake Animations

The Dr X R1 X- treme is equipped with several brake animations to improve rearward visibility and caution.  The goal is to reduce the reaction time of the driver(s) behind you without distraction.  The standard OEM brake is also present.  Users are encouraged to check out all the brake animations to see which serves you best.

Special FX1/FX2 Animations

Unlike any other taillight integration/animation kit, users of the Dr X R1 X- treme can activate Special FX animations on-the-fly without the use of auxiliary switches!  Special FX1 activates with the toggle sequence of L/R/L and Special FX2 activates with R/L/R (see RIP manual for details).

Users may also LATCH the FX1/ FX2 animation without leaving the L or R signal switch engaged.  For safety, all Special FX animations are disabled when activating Brake, Left or Right Signal.  Factory default for FX1 is STEALTH3 or HAMMER PULSE RPM( if RPM wire is connected).  Factory default for FX2 is LIGHTNING.

F1/F2 Special FX Animations

Special FX animations are where you can really separate your bike from the pack!!  These animations are designed for one purpose only >> to amaze.  Not only can you show off these 26 animations while stationary, but 10 of them actually vary with RPM so when you’re riding you’ll impress even more. 

Standard with each Dr X R1 X- treme Kit, the user can activate special FX animations via the FX1/ FX2 activation.  To reprogram the default special FX animations with other animations, the Dr X Kit FX Switch is required (sold separately, XSBA-413).  The FX Switch is a custom SPDT switch assembly with LED indicators for the F1 and F2 positions. The switch can be mounted directly to the front panel for quick on-the-fly activation.  When programming F1 and F2, FX1 and FX2 are also reprogrammed, respectively.

FX1/FX2 Override

Users are given the option to override the Special FX1/ FX2 animations to avoid accidental entry and/or latching.  For these users, VFX recommends using the Dr X Kit FX Switch for Special FX animation operation (sold separately).  Factory default is FX1/FX2 Override Deactivated.

OEM Hazard

For models equipped with a HAZARD switch, the Dr X Kit will respond to this switch by automatically activating the HAZARD animation with brake override.  This feature is incorporated to maintain safety even if stock rear signals have been removed.
